This year’s NCECA conference was my first opportunity to be surrounded by that many potters in one place. I was able to attend a number of workshops on subjects ranging from the importance of radical mentorship of emerging artists, to the best ways to be successful at art fairs around the nation. I was awed by the demonstrating artists, humbled by the history of our art form, and intrigued by the discussions that culminated from so many different creators being in the same room. We were at once like-minded in our pursuit of pottery, but just as opinionated about the right and wrong ways of doing things that you see in any other art form. All in all it was a very inspiring experience and I left the conference with a rejuvenated sense of purpose and a number of new ideas to try in the studio. If you get the opportunity to attend NCECA in the future I strongly recommend that you do it.
Yours,
Mandy
