My watercolor trim scrap series uses mason stains and clay slip techniques along with trim-scraps seen in my previous work to embellish the clay surface. The imagery is inspired by times and places that have brought me joy and peace over the last 2 years. The outside trim scraps create a sharp, jagged, even dangerous edge to the work that repels and can cut anyone who handles the work, but once inside the forms the inner sections are moments of serenity that have allowed me to escape from the world of the pandemic, a chronic pain diagnosis and the general turmoil of living in America today.
